Service

Museum services, a unique product

No museum desires disagreements, legal issues or lengthy procedures relating to acquisitions and the use of funds. Sometimes a purchase requires speed and decisiveness to strike while the iron is hot. Waardewerk supports the acquisition process with advice and action, and guides the client around the pitfalls of the market. With a rapid analysis of the item, the price and the risk, we are the extra eyes and ears of the curator.

Brokerage
If the situation requires it, Waardewerk can act as a broker for acquisitions. We can even pre-finance the purchase price, for example, when the client is bound by procedures or needs time to raise the required funds. During the entire process, we ensure that the transfer (including duties), payment and logistics is smoothly handled. Waardewerk operates in full compliance with international regulations regarding the import and export of cultural objects, endangered species (CITES), payment transactions (WWFT) and copyrights.

MUSEUM SERVICES

Professional knowledge and practical experience

The art market is not complicated, if you know the tricks of the trade. In addition to professional knowledge, it involves expert negotiation, smooth logistics and the efficient settlement of payments.

Purchasing partner
Waardewerk is the purchasing partner for the museum of the European Parliament in Brussels – The House for European History. In close collaboration with the curators, we process a continuous stream of acquisition requests, research and source the objects, and provide an expert assessment of authenticity, provenance, condition and price. Once the written justification has been completed, and the go-ahead is given, Waardewerk carries out the transaction and accompanies the object until delivery to the museum.

Inventory and selection
In the Netherlands, Waardewerk is also at home in the museum world. In addition to providing countless valuations, expertise and advice, we have carried out both large and small inventory and selection projects. Waardewerk knows its way around storage spaces, it can handle the usual museum inventory systems and is not afraid of extensive and varied collections. With a team consisting of (art) historians and project managers, we speak the same language as our clients.
